Anthony Nelson has been named an ESPN Academic All-American. The CAA website has more here.

Nelson had a heck of a year for the Minutemen.
  • 12-74 yards rushing 6.3 AVE
  • 61-820 yards receiving 4 TD's
  • 4-103 yards punt returns 25.5 AVE
  • 9-242 yards kick returns 26.9 AVE
Note that UMass was tops in the CAA in punt returns.

1. Massachusetts....... 11    16  236    0  14.8

Compare Anthony's average with highly touted Richmond returner Justin Rogers.

1. Justin Rogers....... RICH SR 11   15  186  0   54  12.4

Andrew Gaddess previews this Saturday's first round playoff games. Interesting factoid: Lehigh, the Patriot League champion is going against #16 Northern Iowa. The Mountain Hawks played two CAA teams this year and lost by a combined total of 66-10.

Spencer Ridenhour, a Penn State transfer, who had a brief career with the Minutemen, is in trouble again.

What's happening with the 2011 UMass BC game BC's 2001 schedule list UMass as an opponent on Oct. 1. The Championship Subdivision.com web site lists UMass playing at Old Dominion on Oct. 1. The Old Dominion site confirms that date.

Game should be on the 8th. The team that is scheduled to play BC on the 8th does not have them listed to play them on the 8th. BC's schedule has probably not been changed yet. I forgot who that team is, I looked it up the other day. I think it's Cincinatti or Bowling Green or somebody like that. Our OOC schedule for next year is Central Conn., Holy Cross & BC. I would imagine Cent. Conn is the opener on Sept 3, followed by HC. URI is the 17th. Looks like Sept. 24 will be the bye week. Remaining schedule in order is @ ODU, @BC, @ UD, UNH at Gillete, @ UR, Villanova, @ Maine and JMU. Looks like only 4 games at McGuirk. The 5th home game is at Gillete.

Brutal schedule.

BC website doesn't list a day. Does have UMass @ BC in 2011 and 2015
