Sunday---February 12th, 2012

No UMass related football news on the wires this morning.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boston College's football staff is taking hits.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does college football recruiting need an early signing period?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And now Junior Days.

And multi-year scholarships.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I watched John Calipari's Kentucky team play Vanderbilt last night. Does Anthony Davis remind you of Marcus Camby?

Great minds think alike. I Googled for an image of Camby to post and found : Anthony Davis, the next Marcus Camby???

Why do we keep signing 5 year deals???? If molnar doesn't win in 3 years he will be fired just like Morris. Then we pay him a two year buyout and start all over again. Bad job by the athletic department.

In college admissions, there is an option for students to apply early action, which is non-binding, if the students are admitted. Makes sense to extend an early signing period to diffuse the pressure for these kids. let them sign, but give them an option of reconsidering their choice. Lots can happen: coaches get fired, other recruites make commitments to the same school, students have change of heart. Works well for basketball; why not football?

Or good job if he does win and wants to move. Good job by the athletic department.
