New year ---2011
2011 dawned clear and bright here in Jaffrey. The Blog will take that as a good omen.
How about joining Friends of Football or making a dedicated gift to the UMass Athletic Association in 2011? Do something to help the team.
Happy New year to the Blog community! I've got a feeling the 2011 is going to be an interesting ride.

Hello Frank. Happy New Year to you and your family. This is going to be a great year in our football history and you have made a major contribution. Thank you.
Happy New Year ! Is C-USA an option? If we come with a Bowl Game tie-in (New England Bowl / Raytheon Bowl / Boston Bowl ) in Foxboro that makes us more attractive to the MAC or the C-USA. How real is the C-USA rumor? If it real then lets get something in writing from them ! 2011 is going to be our year !
Happy New Year. The Miami Herald is reporting that Coach Whipple wont be returning to the univ. of miami next year. Bring him on board as an assistant head coach or recruiting co-ordinator or assistant athletic director or in any other job category. Our softball coach, ES, is an assistant athletic director so that might be the best job title for Whipple until he takes over as head coach.
AFAIK, the MAC is our only FBS option at this time.
If we build a successful program at that level, then other options could open up at a later time. I strongly believe that conference re-alignments will continue in the future.
I agree one game doesnt define your career as a coach but I think whipple coached himself right out of the profession. hes never going to be a head coach at the fbs level, was driven out of the nfl. I cant see whipple who has a giant brown univeristy ego accepting a job to be a qb coach at the fbs level or coaching fcs, d 2 or 3 football. he will be lucky to get a job at this point.
Happy New Year to you! Thank you for all you do - I seldom miss a day reading your blog. Go UMass!
whipple is not very well liked by his players and his ego is huge. he burned all his bridges and is most likely done in football.
Sure you want this guy back? found this in a paper down there. Wow
"Whip was awful. Like everyone else, I was real excited when he came in. Of course, I would have been excited for Billy Rolle at OC after Nix. He constantly put Jacory and our offense in terrible situations. The clear strength of our offense was our huge line and stable of RB's. We didnt utilize our strengths nearly enough this year and I think it cost us a couple of games. Beyond that, it is said that his arrogance (unwarranted) rubbed just about everyone the wrong way and caused some friction amongst the players/coaches."
whipple is arrogent and that mentality led him to lots of trouble in the coaching business. he was the qb coach for super bowl champions mentoring one of the best young qbs in the nfl and was unemployed when cowher retired. Wisenhunt took almost the whole staff to arizona minus whipple. he got into a shouting match with BC and was removed from the interview process. didnt get the marshall job and settled for slave job in the nfl two years later. hes back on the unemployment line again.
According to ESPN Blog Umass has received a commitment from John Wallace a 6'4" 265 OL/DL from Somerville HS.
Go UMass!!!!
