Tuesday before Louisiana Tech--October 11th, 2016

UMass has it's game notes for Louisiana Tech up.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Louisiana Tech's kicker Jonathan Barnes and WR Carlos Henderson were named C-USA special teams and offensive players-of-the-week respectively. Henderson had a fairly mind-boggling 232 receiving yards and 3 TD day against WKU.

His weekly predictions has the Bulldogs by almost 19 over the Minutemen (another .pdf download).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

South Carolina has announce a Noon kickoff time for the UMass game. They also have a bye week prior to the Minuteman game.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sports Chat Place says Louisiana Tech will cover the 15-point spread against UMass.

Didn't want to comment on football anymore but I'm compelled to bring up something that UMass has simply bypassed or ignored during it's FBS development. Most teams starting an FBS program first develop the running game, and have it as their first priority. They go out and find as many backs as they can and recruit run-blockers. Blocking for the passing game takes a lot more work, experience and recruiting. We have essentially two backs. Every smaller team we've played has a bunch, and they are big. Just a thought.

THE AD at UMass needs to stop the foolish decisions. Games at 4:00PM on workdays, horrible downgrade of website, poor athletic apparel. Worried about where people park at football games, even when attendance doesn't warrant change. Acting like the commonwealth club is great, for the few to be able to drink beer, while watching a game. Meanwhile, games at BU, Lowell, etc, anyone can have a beer, at any seat. Little wonder those programs outdraw UMass by a more than 3:1 ratio. Those same programs do things on and off ice the right way. It is sad to see how low UMass now sits. Not even a midnight madness type event on campus for the 1st top 25 recruiting class. In the mold of football, where students have to travel 90 miles, they now need to travel 25 miles down to Springfield to get a glimpse of the basketball team. Meanwhile Media Relations staff, tweets out political items, further alienating many other fans. Amateur hour is still up and running. The sports management program, will be using UMass athletics as a case study, for how not to grow a brand.

Yea, all universities have their midnight madness/preseason event 25 miles from their home gym. No problem on a weeknight with no public transportation. Please give us a count of how many UMass students attend the showcase at bball hall of fame.
