Thursday-- November 21, 2013

I didn't think I got a good image of the seniors at Saturday's game. Looking at my images, I found one decent, but not great image. They didn't group up and face the stands much prior to being introduced.

As usual, click on the image and Blogger displays a larger view.

I passed through Amherst yesterday and took a couple of images of the McGuirk construction.

UMass has its game notes for Central Michigan up.

UMass fans will be able to watch the last game of the season against Ohio on ESPN3. The Bobcats have been having their problems lately. Maybe the Minutemen can steal a win.

NIU had a big second half to win the MAC West crown last night against Toledo.

Hustle Belt has more on the Huskies 24th straight conference win.

------------------------------------------------------------------------- looks at the coaching hiring and firing status so far in 2013. The MAC (page two of article) has two vacancies and at least three league coaches may get offers to move up.

When you're talking college football rivalries, you're talking Cortland-Ithaca.

Lack of comments may be admin. deleting all those pounding on the coaching staff. Yes, we do not have the best coaching staff but we got what we could afford. If you look at the overall picture, it's fairly easy to see what can and has to happen. A healthy Woodley will be a dominant force. Finding a QB with fire in his belly and a "refuse to lose" attitude is necessary, even if the kid is only my height (5-10). Continue to build depth in an already pretty good starting defense (yes, pretty good). Get back to McQuirk.

Ithaca and Cortland is a great rivalry. When the media talks about rivalries, it talks about Texas and Texas A&M or Michigan and Ohio State. These can't compare to some DIII rivalries that go back 100 years.

Vetteson, I agree with your comments here. I think Woodley is going to be a go-to back and a QB is a must! I have noticed many of the early offers being made by UMass are to QB's Can Juco players play immediately at this level or do they have to sit a year? I noticed one player mentioned was a Juco guy. Another Todd Bankhead would be awesome.

I also agree that McQuirk will be awelcome sight. We should sell McQuirk out easily if we averaged 15,000+ this year at Gillette. A full house should give us a bit of an advantage, I would think.

Any idea how the tickets will be done next year? Two packages, one for Gillette, one for McQuirk? Can't wait to get started for next year; I do think next year will be the year we start to compete on a weekly basis. These past two years have been hard to watch at times.
