No UMass football news of note today, so let's return to Monday's look at the redshirt freshmen that will be available this spring. I will repeat the cravat that I have no knowledge of any gains or losses in the listed roster.
Offense:
- Julian Colarusso WR. The Quincy, MA native is tall, 6-4 and was a Boston Herald All-Scholastic in 2007.
- Cedric Gonnet TB. No bio on the UMass website. He was first team All-Group IV South Jersey in 2006. Note Julian Talley in same article.
- Zack Johnson K/P. No bio on the UMass website.
- Stephane Milhim OL. At 6-4 325, Milhim is the size Mark Whipple favored for OL.
- Sean O'Conner OL. The 6-7 O'Neal has "length', which is the current hot atribute in offensive linemen.
- Gilbert Parson OL. First Team All-New England in HS.
- Quinton Sales OL. Sales was a Rivals three star player and the highest rated position ranking (#15 center) signed by UMass last year.
- Alan Williams Ath. No bio on the UMass website .Ran for a lot of yards at Wilbrham &
Monson
- Kevin Macon OL. Macon is probably an instant starter on the OL. One of the highest rated players we signed in 2006.
One article (no link) said Cedric Gonnet was injured back in HS in 2007. If fully recovered, he could be in the mix at TB.

regarding the OL the big man from Buffalo transfer will anchor the inside.
The comment refers to Brandon Flanagan, who will be a RS Jr. in '09
He should be able to play this year.

Rhode Island and Northeastern have announced their schedules.
UMass vs URI Sep 19 and UMass vs Northeastern Nov 7.
The Maine game is almost certainly Oct 31 which leaves Sep 26 and Oct 3 for the final OOC game and the Bye.
After looking at the reviews of the OL, I want to forget how unstable from injuries our OL was this year and how much I like smash mouth football.
Gonnett has incredible speed.
Incredible is a little generous
The OL has been repaired.
Gonnet may go down as one of the fatest RB Umass has ever had. 4.35 40 speed he's just a RSF as well and hes only gonna get faster.
He does not run a 4.35
He does have outstanding speed, but c'mon, a 4.35! Get real.
I don't know if we can count on Getek, didn't he just have a major neck operation because of injuries suffered last season?
The OL will be fine. That's the last group on the team you need to worry about.
where did you hear getek had neck surgery. funny how rumors get started.
I was told a few weeks ago when I was eating at Burkshire that Getek needed or had neck surgery. That is why I asked the question.
Has anyone seen the newest freshman, Sean Unterkofler, increadeble speed, agility and has the complete package for a future starter. I saw his highlight reals on UTUBE and it was impressive.
