Seven days into the search for a new coach 01/15/09

David Coulson takes a shot at Coach Brown and UMass.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BTW, the CAA decided to stay together.

UPDATE: Matty Vautour has more on the CAA's decision to stay one league.

John McCutcheon says he can multi--task.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The American Football Coaches Association has called for a early signing day for football recruits.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In something you don't see everyday, Villanova signed a recruit and it turns out he lives closer to the college than to his high school.

Where does Coulson come off as saying Brown brought in a bunch of "academic challenged" athletes to UMass? (Should probably read "academically challenged", Dave). And this from Mr. Appalachian State. I don't have the stats in front of me, but I thought UMass stacked up pretty well in graduation rates, etc. with the rest of the CAA and FCS football in general. That was most definitely a cheap shot without any corroborating information to back up the claim. What a jerk!

did anyone else here about the qb from i believe unc (cameron sexton) who is graduating in may and looking to transfer but cannot do so within division 1? could umass be a potential place for him?

I believe he has only one year of eligibility. AFAIK, one year eligibility now means he can't play in Division I.

So, he could transfer to AIC, but not to us.

Cam Sexton

Yes, I do. As a professor here, academic interests and qualtity of students countervail and supercede any other concern you may hope for.

Was it Coulson or his much needed intern?

The son of the University of Miami (FL), FBS, Football Coach, graduated after playing 3 years at FIU, also a FBS school, and then transferred, Sept 2008, to the University of Miami (FL) where he played.

I think Cameron Sexton could play here if we had a academic program that interested him.

The poll being conducted for the next head coach is an example of the problems that McCutcheon must overcome. The least qualified candidate, Kevin Morris, is getting the most votes.

Heard on the news this morning that the selection committee has narrowed the choices to Mr. Morris and Mr. Masella.

I am not surprised since they are the 2 least qualified candidates.
