Another Verbal--William Nesselt DE

This article states UMass has picked up another 2009 verbal from William Nesselt, a 6-3 240 pd DE from powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas in Florida.

He was second team 6A-5A-4A All-Broward County.

Lots of action images of Nesselt here.

Played in the Dade-Broward All-Star game.

Key quote from this article:"William Nesselt, DL, 6-3, 245, St. Thomas: Emerged as one of the best defensive line prospects in the state by having a productive off season and making plays all year. Quality talent that is only getting better."

Thanks to a special Blog reader who brought this to my attention!

Looks like a good pickup. He should redshirt and work on his speed and strength.

In the article referenced
OL-C Mike Flash 6-2 305
was recruited by FAU and then had his scholarship withdrawn when they found another OL they liked better.

We like our OL taller, however he might be worth a look.

I feared losing Don Brown would hurt recruiting...the number of verbals, and the JUCO transfer seem to indicate we are in good hands...this one just validates that for me...

Col Hogan you should still be concerned about the recruiting. We are receiving commitments from players, but not the type of players who will take us to a National Championship.

The Nesselt signing is a great addition. I csn see him adding twenty pounds by the time he is a RS sophomore; time will tell about the rest.
