Spencer Whipple to join UMass

Jeff Thomas reports that Spencer Whipple will be transferring to UMass this summer.

Nice to have the Whipple family involved in UMass again.

Great Man, Great coach, great family and gave my son the opportunity to play college ball and get a great education and degree.

We will now have 3 red-shirt freshman QB's, all with 4 years of eligibility. That seems to be a crowd! I wonder if the coaching staff has other positions in mind for any of the QB's??

We need more mobility at the QB position. This league has changed and is so fast and quick. We need accuracy and speed to win it all. Anything less than Championship is unexceptable.

Competition only makes the team better.

I can't imagine that he would transfer here without expecting to challenge for and win the QB job next year.
Watching the daily practice as three young QB's learn and improve everyday should be exciting. If you are going to be on campus and have time to watch don't forget to give us reports.

Article which also mentions we are looking for some transfers who can come in and contribute immediately. LB? There are many JC's in the country that we may have to look to for players.

Great to see Coach Whipple involved with our program. Remember he started Friends of UMass Football for 1 reason - to change our program to 1A.

Yes, I think we were spoiled at the LB position in the past. We will miss them gut we have a great foundation with the guys still there.

He will not be under ship at UMass. Chances of him being starter next year or soon after that are slim.
