This is (or can be) good news for us. Deefield Academy should be a prep school for UMass bound kids. Its close enough for our coaches to visit their practices daily, or at least weekly and attend their games if their is no conflict, and for them to visit our campus, facilities, and attend our games.

Based on experience from at least the last 10 years, it's been very rare that a DA athlete chooses "public" university UMass over an offer from a private school.

Don't you think that is a reflection of our coaching staff? Why aren't we sending kids who don't meet our academic requirements to Deerfield and Dean every year? We should be using our local prep schools and CC's as piplelines.

If Teddy Reed wants to play football and lacrosse why would he select NE over UM? Both of our programs are better than NE. This is a great opportunity for us to recruit him.
