MassLive's Harry Plumer has an interesting story about how five teams (including UConn) did in their first year as FBS/I-A.
UConn, you will recall, was not a very successful FCS team when they made the jump. If I remember right, they had made only one or two playoff appearances and never made the Championship game.
The Huskies went 3-8 in 2000. UConn followed with 2-9 in 2001. In 2002 they had their breakthrough season going 6-6 with wins over Navy and and Iowa State.
