- Jarad Chivers (now wearing #66) was listed as a Senior last year, but must have been granted another year of eligibility.
- Jesse Julmiste (wearing #16) a 5-9 165 pd WR from Dodge City JUCO. He ran a blazing 4.36 40 in a 2006 Nike training camp. Julmiste was third-team All-Broward County in 2006 (pdf). His Scout.com page here.
- Woody Carter IV (wearing #19) a 6-1 175 pd TB from Dean JUCO. I've blogged about Carter before.
- Nick Jablonski (wearing #80), a 6-5 220 pd TE. Enterprise All-Scholastic. Scored the winning TD in the 2009 Shriners Classic.
UMass has a new contract with ESPN Radio to increase coverage in the Boston area.
Generally, I listed to UMass sports on the internet feed of WRNX. I lose the FM signal around Winchester, NH on the way home. I cannot hear WLLH's AM signal despite the fact I'm not that far away in southern New Hampshire.

Thanks for the info on the new roster additions.
when is Morris going to name a starting qb?
According to the articles on the subject and his interview comments it appears no one has stepped up and clearly separated themselves. The bigger question I have is what level are the competing QB's playing at? Has anyone seen them in practice?
from what I've seen in practice Havens has the best arm of the group. however I dont know if this offense is catered to fit his skills.
He's a pro-style quarterback in a pro-set offense. What doesn't fit him?
Havens will be the starter.
Give Woodward a shot he has been loyal and done well when called upon He deserves to be given a shot. If Woodward and Havens are that close that a decision can't be made, give Woodward a shot. We might be surprised just how good he is.
No doubt Woodward has stuck it out. However that being said if he and Havens are that close after he has spent four years in the sytem and Havens has had six weeks field time between Spring and nowe then you go with Havens. Not to mention Havens returns next year. There is no reason why you would want to groom a new QB next year if we can avoid it.
the previous post is on the money
you dont give the starting spot to a guy who has been in the system for four years and this is where he is. the guy wiyh 6 weeks should only get better.if you want to make the playoffs sentiment has to be left on the sideline
Agreed. Tie goes to the Junior every day of the week. I just hope they are both competing at a level that will give us achance to win the CAA and advance far in the playoffs.
By the way the early articles on th LB's did not mention Jennings much other than to say he is still recovering from a back injury. Does anyone know if he is taking live reps yet. It is looking a little bit like when Listorti was out. Coaches have been very quiet.
Agree w/previous post. It looks like Listorti all over again! The LB's will have to grow up in a hurry. Maybe the DL's will play up to their potential and let them adjust to the game. We'll see.
If you always go withe the younger guy your recruting is going to be tough. Players want to know they have a shot to play at some point in their career. BC started a RS Senior who sat behind Ryan and it happens at other schools. Give Woodward his Shot.
the starting spot goes to the guy who has the best chance to mature and get better as the season goes on. as far as recruiting goes, kids want to go to a school where they believe that if their better than the guy ahead of him they will get to play regardless of what year they are. the idea is to win football games. a winning program is the best recruitment tool of all
