I just sent the UMass Marching Band my second contribution towards their new building.
According to George Parks' letter they are making great progress. The plans may be sent to bids this October and the band hopes to be in their new home by the fall of 2010.

In only 29 days UMass will open the lights at McGuirk. I'll be getting out of our truck and in the distance I'll hear the UMass Band cadence. That still sends a tingle down my spine!

Where are they going to locate the band building?
I, too, am about to send my second contribution to the Band's Building Fund. If you are a TRUE fan of UMass football, you know how much the Band adds to a day at the stadium. So, now is the time to stand up and say "Thanks" to George Parks and his amazing musicians.
Thank you from the band parents! I believe they are supposed to locate the band building close to the marching band practice field near the Mullins Center.
OK, I could not figure out from the plans where it was going to located.
Makes sense to put it close to the band's practice area.
The band rocks! We are so lucky to have so many talented and enthusiastic young people to play. It's definitely one of the finest bands in the country.
So, BEHIND Mullins, to the left of it (i.e., closer to Southwest) or to its right (on Mass Ave adjacent to or behind the Mullins parking lot)? Thanks.
The Power & Class are definitely one of the prides of UMass. Definitely worthy of a fine new facility.
