Sunday after Mississippi State--September 25th, 2016

Hey that was a good game. We were trading punches with an SEC team. They were better, but not by much. It was fun to watch and featured a couple of ESPN highlight reel catches by our receivers. The offense broke out with 411 total yards.

WE made some mistakes and Mississippi State made some good ones. I still feel this team is light years ahead of the past in athletic  ability and grit. Be sure to check out the post game quotes where Whipple said he enjoys coaching this team and he enjoyed coaching this game.

We were right there with 'em all game. I truly believe the future is bright.

Despite what the scoreboard said at the end of the game, yesterday was a win!

We found our quarterback for one thing. Sure, he threw a pick-6 but he also made some great throws, ran the ball and kept his head.

Marquis Young returned to the forefront of the running game, showing his speed on a 84-yard scamper down the sideline to put UMass on top and electrify the home crowd.

The receiving corp was outstanding, making some highlight reel catches and being consistent throughout the game.

Our defense turned in another tremendous effort against a power-5 opponent, refusing to quit when they got down in the third quarter.

Yesterday was a complete effort, they battled toe-to-toe with a team that was bigger, faster and deeper. There was no quit in the Minutemen.

The clouds are beginning to part...I see better days ahead!

Agree, this team has something past teams have lacked. A chance to win some games. Defense against the run is the main reason, these defenders bring it every game, every play.

To the Jackson Clarion Ledger reporter...learn how to count. MSU fans DID NOT make up half of the crowd. Not even close to it and the famous cow-bells were quiet most of the game.

As for the MSU player that said "we were way better than them all day", I suggest you watch the highlight reel.

Some folks may forget that UMass is playing against some of the best talent in the country. The mistakes are hurting, but the execution has improved. The athleticism and talent is obvious. Great recruiting. If the team continues to improve this is going to be a very good season. I think we beat Tulane on Saturday.

They proved a lot of people wrong yesterday... finally. Going down 41-21 people started leaving and even I thought they were going to fold, but they didn't which is great to see. Depth is still the #1 issue especially in the defensive front 7 but I finally am seeing a brighter future for the program based on what's happened so far this season.
