Div. II schools can offer 36 scholarships, DIII is "need based". Anyway, who remembers Dick McPherson? Why did he leave? (Hint: IAA). The up-down debate will never end but I'm confident that UMass will stay FCS until I'm dead. Big East, the most commonly mentioned FBS conf. for UMass, would have to pay UMass to install all the upgrades. UMass won't.

Well, I was publishing the blog on my vacation and I had limited time.

I'll restart the player countdown today or tomorrow. Life has been hectic here :)

Drove by stadium front looks great, looks like they are finally paving the inside areas. The rear of the stadium, under home side is a mess, with all kinds of assorted junk stored under it. Time for some serious cleaning out the junk. Can't wait till next saturday. If UMASS finds a QB this will be a good season.

The junk under the stadium has been an issue for years. Both Coach Reid and Coach Hodges said it was a constant struggle to keep the UMass facilities dept from dumping stuff there.
