Thorr Bjorn continues to make an impact at Rhode Island

Former UMass assistant AD (and former UMass football player) Thorr Bjorn continues to make an impact in the Rhode Island AD job. See this article about Ram football that is as much about Thorr as it is about new Rhody Head Coach Darren Rizzi. Looks like he is going to inject some life into Rhode Island football.

Also Q&A with the new Rhode Island football coach here .

A professional Athletic Director is a big component of a winning and successful athletic dept. In the past, many New England land grant universities (including UMass) have used the position as a dumping ground for political appointees...

Great article about Thorr. It is too bad we can't find an athletic director like him. G-d knows we need one.

I never thought I would read that our athletic director actually talked about canceling the baseball program and the lack of alumni support for the baseball program. John, Perhaps you should actually make an effort to contact the Alumni and reach out to the business community to raise money. Look at his resume, which was posted when he was hired. He certainly claimed he raised a lot of $$. Being an athletic director is more than just sitting in an office. You are responsible for raising $ for the athletic department, not to expect it to be given to you.

McCutcheon compared us to schools with 100K seat stadiums. What about BC with a 40K seat stadium?

New Year's is next week. John you need to make a few resolutions and support the athletic department.
