This kid looks great and has speed. Umass needs a QB that can run and I quarantee they win a National Championship. The present QB is good but the gold standard is Tim Tebow and on this level Armanti Edwards. App St. will win another title with this guy if their defense is half is good as a Don Brown defense. The game has changed with the spread offense. Ask the University of Michigan. The writting is on the wall.
I think his name is Octavious Hawking.
Octavious was a good high school QB. Umass should do the Leak/Tebow combo next year becuase schools know that Coen will and cannot run. Umass has no choice but to open the QB position up to a different style of play. It will put fans in the stadium because they will win. The schedule next year look very tough.
anyone know the deal with freshman redshirt qb scott wallace. i know he travelled with team and hawkins did not. i think he is 3 on depth chart.
I have no information other than my own feelings, but I think UMass really, really did not want to break Hawking's redshirt. I think they want to get as much playing time out of him as possible.
OTOH, Wallace could have simply been ahead in the learning curve.
Hawkins ran the scout O during practice, every day. Wallace got some reps in, but Hawkins was the main guy on scout O. Wallace just traveled because they didn't want to waste Hawkins redshirt if they needed a 3rd string QB.
What about NH? Aren't they interested in this kid?

Any word on 2008 transfers?
Any word on potential transfers for 2008?
not sure that team would travel with #4 qb wallace just to save #3 hawkins. their goal is to win in must win situations, and if necessary they may need to call on #3 qb to get it done. anyone see hawkins or wallace in practice and what is each qb's strenghts?
