Tuesday Morning reading

First of all Towson's Sean Schaefer ---was the CAA Offensive Player-of-the-week.

If you have not seen this video, it's awesome. Schaefer drives Towson 77 yards in 24 seconds to win the game against Richmond.

UMass stays #4 in the Sports Network rating.

Jeff Thomas of the Springfield Republican has an article here . He says Liam Coen is doing well and should be available for Villanova. Nick Diana is day-to-day as is Brad Listorti. Note that Brown said during the off week he had time to work with some of the younger players and singled out Victor Cruz, Spencer Ridenhour and Reshaude Goodwin for praise.

Keeper has UMass a 19.5 point favorite over Villanova .

He has us rated #2 behind Wofford .

UPDATE: Coach Brown's weekly teleconference notes cover some of the facts in Jeff Thomas' article. Nice to see so many UMass players contributing and more players to come.

For those of you to young to recall, Greg Landry, who was an incredibly efficient and effective QB with UMass in the late sixties, and who went on to earn fame as a top flight and highly servicable QB with the Detroit Lions, is one who calls to my mind at least, our own Liam Coen. If anyone recalls seeing Landry play at UMass, I'm interested in reading your thoughts.

I did not see my first UMass game until 1970.

I believe Landry was a more mobile QB than Coen.

Landry led the Red Men in rushing in 1965 going 177-728 4.1 yards/carry and 8 TDs

Coen though, should break all UMass passing records by the time he's done.

It would interesting to see what Landry could do in a modern offense with receivers as capable as we have now. Back then Yankee Conference offenses were three-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust :)

I'm very happy to see Coach Brown is going to give Spencer Ridenhour some burn, I watched him play at Penn State and he is a winner. He's the safety coaches dream about. Hard hitting man child. Go #19 Help take the team to a national championship !! Go UMASS

I thought we had Austin and Hopkins as our guards and Dianna as our center. The article says Dianna and Hopkins are the guards and uses the phrase
Matt Austin has solidified us at the offensive line
This is the first time I read Austin has been moved from LG to Center.

I think that's a verbal "typo" by coach.

I can not recall a stronger secondary in recent memory. It sure is an impressively deep and experienced, albeit young, group back there. Coach has really picked up some great talent in transfers and has recruited well, also.

Austin switched to Center and Diana was moved back to Guard prior to the Colgate game ... Im glad you guys have been paying such close attention
