HOME GAMES IN BOLD CAPS; CAA Games denoted with asterisk.
All dates subject to change; Times to be announced.
CSN- Comcast SportsNet New England Television, list of systems broadcasting Comcast Sports New England here. Also available on Dish Network channel 435.

I checked the Kansas State website and their opening game last year was at 6:00pm. That's the time I used for the countdown clock.

The New Hampshire and James Madison should be among the top games in FCS/I-AA in 2009.

It would not surprise me if Delaware, Richmond or JMU games were picked up by another network.

what happened to CAA contract with CN8 for broadcasting football games?

CN8 closed their Boston based operations. It's only a local Philly station now.

Saturday evening games would be a better means for attendance. Why not some late fall games under the lights?

very tough stretch in october.

Late season night games risk becoming uncomfortably cold when the sun goes down. Not a coincidence that the deeper we get into the season, the earlier we start the games.

Look out for Stoney Brook

Memo to UMASS athletic department!!Students will not come to November 7 &14 games, please push back start to 1:30PM.This is why lights were installed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i dont understand why the athletic dept doesn't get it. students prefer night games. maybe if they considered what the students prefer there would be more attendance thus more money for the athletic
dept as a whole. maybe their worried abou the electric bill. enough students wont show up to pay it

how would there be more money students don't pay, and move it back why so the students can tailgate longer and come in for 5 minutes and then leave. umass football fans are pathetic no support.

Night games--start at 7:00pm; bring a flippin' blanket and sell the hot beverages. This will attract students and locals--even in early November. Get with it Athletic dept.!

the guy who said that Umass football fans are pathetic knows exactly what he is talking about. look at other college teams around the country, when the weather gets bitter cold the stands are packed.
the students for the most part could careless about the sports programs as a whole. the weather could be fantastic and they wouldn't show up. the weather was great at the spring game and maybe there was 300-400 people total in the stands.

And people wonder why I'm thinking of closing comments.

UMass was FOURTH IN THE NATION in average attendance in 2008 among the cold weather teams:

Montana 23,923
Harvard 17,360
Montana State 13,406
UMass 12,383

UMass was #15 in total attendance (74,298) among ALL FCS/I-AA teams and again in the TOP FIVE in the cold weather teams!

The comments just keep getting more and more off the wall.

winning will put the people in the stands and great football thats all we need people responds to success, and the coaching staff and the players must step up, you want attendance WIN!!! plain and simple

i don't understand why the comments
keep getting more and more off the wall. i see people who have a difference of opinon, which is what a blog is suppose to illicit. if everyone just agreed and said that umass had a great program i think
people would quit reading and participating

No. My intent for the blog was to try to provide information and news about UMass Football for UMass fans.

If you want to talk smack or bash the program, there are plenty of forums for that kind of stuff.

Try Mike's UMass Message Board and there plenty of people who will debate differences of opinion with you. Take the program bashing there.

the guy who said that winning will put the people in the stands. i thought that during coach browns'
time at the helm he was pretty successful. Umass 74 said that average attendance 12,383 in 2008 what is the seating capacity of the stadium

if your intent is to not provide an open forum than maybe you should
not allow for comments on your site.

it seems that the people who voice an opion on this site are for the most part respectful of the team and the site. how ever they are also not going to to say everything
is rosy with umass' athletic dept
and their fan base

I believe 20,000 iF YOU look at it we havent had the success we were expected to have the past few years. I understand we made it to the national championship but after that we really have been on the decline and we need a spark something spectacular to happen, an undefeated season or something and this seems like the best year to do it, no one expects Umass to be great this year they are sleepers, so wake the people up!!!

didn't we sell out a couple of years ago against UNH on a very cold November night?!?!?! I agree, unless TV is dictating the start time--go for a late afternoon start
