Recruiting 2011---Ben Patrick

The Boston Herald reports that Ben Patrick, a 5-9 179 pd CB/RB from Rivers HS will be visiting UMass this week to see if he will commit as a preferred walkon.

How many more 5'9 170 guys is Morris looking at . . . he must be trying to get lucky with one that will be a sleeper and defy the odds!

this guy is a walk-on. Probably same height as you right?

I let the post go because I thought someone would point out that 5-9 180 is not a bad size for a CB at this level.

Our Rivals three-star DB recruit Iric Harris is 5-8 175.

Many HS QB's and RB's get converted to WR's and DB's in college.

Anyone who ran for 300+ yards and 6 TD's in one game can play for me.

Speed seems to be the one factor that Morris is considering closely. Good recruiting class it would seem, especially the transfers, but who really knows until these kids are on the field in a few years? No defensive lineman recruited? All else seems pretty solid, with very good numbers at the skill positions. Go UMass!

Ben Patrick is one of the greatest high school players I have seen in massachusetts and will run his 5'9 frame past anyone
