Shane Viveiros gains attention at safety

The Fall River Herald has an article on RS Freshman Safety Shane Viveiros.

We have not done a poll on the defensive backfield yet, but it looks like Viveiros will backup Brian Ellis at strong safety in 2008.

At 6-0 215 and with a 475 squat (a UMass freshman DB record), it looks like Shane has a bright future in the UMass secondary.

The image to the right is a crop from one of the ones I took at the spring game. It's got a little blur from the long focal length.

With a few more pounds he will be at 220 and hitting like a linebacker. I can't wait to see him next year.

When might the depth chart be updated? Is it usually after training camp has been concluded?

In my experience, they won't update the roster until training camp opens in August.

There probably won't be a depth chart until the press guide is printed, but that may not be very accurate as it goes to press early.
