Saturday--June 9th, 2012

Coach Molnar will be at MacDonald's Tavern on 440 Grove St in Worcester on June 14th.

The Worcester Area Alumni Association will be there too.

Last week I mention some UMass alums playing in the CFL. I missed Keron Williams, who is playing for the B.C. Lions.

Brandon London gets a mention in this Larks 2012 preview.

Wining the National Championship with UMass is on the NCAA Football '13 achievement list.

The Big Ten Network has details on the Michigan-UMass game. I can't tell you how much satisfaction it gives me not to be searching for a link to  UMass- Stony Brook on Comcast Sports Mid-Atlantic cable network.

The early line on all 726 college games in 2012. UMass is +26 against UConn in the Minutemen's opener.

Speaking of the Huskies, a Bleacher Report article ranks them #7 in the Big East.

A agent blogs on five mistakes NFL rookies make.

Teams we out-recruited in 2012 according to Phil Steele: Fresno State, Hawaii, UNLV, New Mexico, UAB, UTEP, Wyoming, Western Michigan, Ball State, Kent State, Buffalo, Akron, San Jose State, UTSA, Troy, WKU, ULM, Middle Tennessee and North Texas.

i know i'm jumping way ahead of myself, so here's the question: will coach molnar's weekly television show be aired in the boston area for the upcoming football season? btw. coach molnar did an excellent job recruiting considering he had a small window to work with for the coming season.

I always grimace when I hear how well a coach did recruiting. Why not wait 4 or 5 years before you say how good a recruiting class is?

Some kids for whatever reason won't ever make it to campus come the fall. Those who do will mostly be redshirted. All will have to compete with older, bigger and stronger players from day one. While not chasing them they will get pushed from the next class. Some will drop out, fail out, transfer or get injured. Some will have problems with football, school or family. Most will be reserves their entire career. A small number will fit the mold to qualify a recruiting class as excellent. And there is probably a good chance those players won't be the ones you were expecting.

Not every class will be like the one signed in 2003 which included Matt Austin, Tracy Belton, John Hatchell, JJ Moore, Brandon London, Rasheed Rancher, Christian Koegel and Charles Walker. That class ended up being loaded.
