National Championship Friday--12/18/09

UMass gets three transfers from Northeastern. I blogged yesterday about LB Chad Hunte.

Also joining the Minutemen will be All-CAA and All-New England RB John Griffin. He will be joined by 6-5 300 pd OL Greg Niland who started 21 games for Huskies in the last two years. Pre-season All-American Nate Thellan is reported to be leaning towards UMass.

Matty V. also says UMass is in the running for Hofstra DE Deron Mayo.

More than 60 colleges have contacted Northeastern about transfers.

UMass has gotten some good transfers so far and can improve it even more with the other guys you listed.

As for Moats, he was dominated by Vlad. Only progress Moats made was lining up on the left side of his line and pursuing the play downfield. He couldn't get by Vlad.

Greg Niland OL - 6'5 - 305 1 yr eligibility remaining

John Griffin RB - 6'0 - 205 1 yr eligibility remaining

Chad Hunte LB - 6'0 - 205 3 yr eligibility remaining
Deron Mayo DE 5-11 - 214 1 yr eligibility remaining

Will Deron come to UMass? What position will he play? Is he fast enough to play SS?

UMass should absolutely go after Jordan Batts, the fr. WR and Matt Carroll, the Rfr QB.

batts was offered by UNH. I dont think we have a shot at him

Batts would be a great aquisition. I'm surprised some FBS teams aren't looking at him?

Nate Thellen (S), Derrick Brisbane (LB), Brain Palangi (T), and Mike Laperriere (LB) could all be very helpful. All but Brisbane are in-state boys.
