Frank, I feel this is terrible news for the remaining North Division teams. With Old Dominion and Georgia State joining the CAA, what is to stop them from creating their own league and leaving UMass, UNH, URI and Maine out in the cold? Plus, now UMass and others will have to find replacement teams to fill that game each year. Any chance of an Albany - Stoney Brook like teams stepping into to fill the shoes of Northeastern of Hofstra?

Take this to the bank- I have heard for about the last week, that URI will announce that their football team will be disbanded effective immediately. They will make the announcement just after this semester ends.

Instead of calling Albany or Stoney Brook, call the MAC.

So you think that the CAA is going to kick out UMass, UNH, Maine and URI to make an 8 team CAA including 2 brand new programs???? Yeah.......right.

I actually think that the remaining New England 4 have more power now than they did 1 month ago.

I doubt the comment above about URI giving up now. Not that URI won't do it in the future, but the CAA yesterday announced an eight game non-divisional schedule for 2010. URI would have told the league if that was going to happen.

a few years ago, uri was on the verge of dropping football. after the mediocure last few seasons, nothing should surprise anybody if they drop football.
