Former UMass coach Jimmy Reid has left his current job as Head Coach of VMI and accepted a job as linebackers coach with the Miami Dolphins. VMI press release here .
He'll be working for former Syracuse coach Paul Pasqualoni who has been appointed defensive coordinator of the Fish.
I've done a number of previous posts on Reid in this blog.

Couldn't be any happier for my former coach. His recent gig at VMI had to be tough, especially with recruiting military minded kids. Do the Dolphins play the Lions in 2008? Coach Reid will be coaching against one of his former players, Joe Cullen, who is a coach for the Lions and my former teammate.
He's a good man, a great coach, and was a pleasure to play for. Long overdue, and I'm happy for him.
Coach Reid made inroads in improving the Cadets.
Their big problem was player retention. Some years they would only have a couple of seniors.
Last year none of Reid's recruits quit, which was a big change from previous years.
I was always a big fan of Reid, I couldn't be happier.
Awesome!!!! Thanks for including this great news.
I love how you keep up with all the former coaches in this blog. What a great place to keep up with UMass football.
