The NCAA considered inviting the FCS National Champion to fill out the 70 Bowl slots that will be needed next year. The idea did not fly because the FCS team "would not have time to prepare for the bowl". Not to mention a bowl game would be the 16th game of the season for a team with only 63 scholarships.

The NCAA's Bowl Committee is clueless. The FCS champion won't be determined until a day or two before the BCS championship, nevermind the lesser bowls. What we have to be concerned about is if FCS teams start declining playoff invitations to go to bowls instead.

I think you are right. IMHO Delaware, Montana or Appalachian State would immediately jump on a bowl bid.
