Seventy-Seven Days to football and #77

Only seventy-seven days until the start of the 2007 season and wearing #77 for UMass this year will be Ben Coblyn . He's a 6-8 285 pd OL who's a transfer from Boston University.

His hometown is Amherst, MA and he was All-Western Mass in football.

With his size and basketball agility, he should be an excellent addition to the UMass offensive line.

The image to the left is a crop from one of the Spring Game images.

Welcome to the Minutemen Ben! Hope you have a great career here.

Welcome Ben. I am looking forward to watching you.

Also noted on ESPN - St. Peters announced last week (Thursday, June 14, 2007) it is dropping football.

With 33 returning lettermen with some degree of experience and 14 incoming freshmen there might be some that are talented enough to contribute this year.

It's sad when any program goes silent. A good friend of mine, his son played for Marist.

There's not much left of the Metro Atlantic.

I remember when Villanova dropped football (back when they were I-A). The scramble to sign their players was intense. I think UMass signed one or two.

I'm sure the coaches are on top of it.
