It doesn't seem that Bamford is the fundraiser that UMass was looking for when they hired him.Seeing BC putting finishing touches on a new fixed structure IPF and UMass settling for a bubble is very disappointing. We all realize that UMass alums are notoriously cheap, but what about all the business entities in Massachusetts that could have come up with the funds? Those are the guys who could make this happen and Bamford doesn't appear to be able to tap those resources. This failure is unfortunate because Universities need those sources of funds and an AD is judged on his abilities in those areas as much as his abilities to select good coaches. All that we are asking for is a decent IPF,not an entire stadium! Not a good statement to be making to the rest of the FBS world.

A bubble is a start. It's better than what we have now. I think a new multi-use stadium is more urgent to attract players and to grow the fan base.

If you cant get the money for a satisfactory IPF,where do you think the many millions necessary for a full "multi-use stadium" is coming from. Have you thought out what you are saying?

A multi-use facility is going to be a high(er) priority for the university than an "IPF." Everyone knows (perhaps with you as an exception) that the university can use a stadium for many events, unlike an indoor facility. You're putting the cart before the horse. It's true that a stadium is more an expenditure, but the bubble is the way to go-- at least for the foreseeable future. As I said Mr. Anon., the bubble is a great albeit temporary addition to the existing facilities for athletes. I would have killed to have one when I played. And I repeat for you, especially, it's far better than what is available NOW. I contribute to UMass every year. Do you, big guy?

And Mr. Bamford is doing far better at his job than his predecessors. I for one think we are lucky to have him.

A little touchy now aren't we? Calm down,we all basically want the same thing -a successful UMass football program.Yeah, I contribute every year-for decades.I also would like to see a solid IPF which would benefit many sports going forward.Unfortunately,a new stadium, with a prohibitive cost, is likely way in the future,if at all.Sorry to burst your bubble.
