McGuirk construction update

I had an appointment at VAMC Northampton Friday. On the return trip I stopped by McGuirk to see how things were going.

It was a beautiful June day with low humidity. The stadium fields smelled of fresh-mown grass and the campus had that serene feel when all those pesky students are home for the summer.

Work on the new Press Box does not seem to have started yet.

Frank, thank you for the great photo's. Very exciting. I can't wait to be seated in McGuirk, for the next on campus game. In the meantime, I am loving the club seats at Gillette. Best buy in sports in New England. Let's hope UMASS asks all these contractors and construction companies for donations to UMASS athletics, as well as offer the construction workers and unions a dicounted ticket to UMASS football and hoops. This is how to build support. Last time I was on campus I must have seen hundreds of construction workers walk past the Mullins Center, and I wondered how many have ever attended a sporting event inside.

I love my Gillette club seats also. Mrs Blog and I have had season tickets at McGuirk continuously since 1976, so I've spent a lot of time in McGuirk. But I really hope UMass continues to play some games at Gillette. It's a great venue. When Coach Molnar gets us winning in a couple of years, Gillette will be awesome place to watch a game.

BTW, Steve is a great UMass fan!
