Matty Vautour reports UMass has fired defensive coordinator Tom Masella.

Mike Traini of "Fight Massachusetts" has a post on changing the defensive coordinator.

In five years in FBS, UMass has yet to win a shootout. The wins have been grind-it-out defensive struggles. The Minutemen needs more talent and bodies on defense for the new defensive coordinator to work with. Hopefully, we'll get a coach with some national recruiting connections to make that happen.

Boston College announces three early enrollees, two of whom had UMass offers.

The NCAA may adopt a mandatory fourteen week schedule. That would give every team two bye weeks each season.

UMass A.D. Ryan Bamford Tweeted two bye weeks would provide additional flexibility for an independent like UMass, making scheduling easier.

Just read about the firing of Coach Massella-why did the administration wait to the last moment to make such a necessary decision,Inertia thy name is UMass!

I would say that MW needs to relieve himself of OC duties and hire his replacement.
