Coach Bell said last year Eastern Michigan had a program that UMass would like to emulate. Indeed, the Eagles usually go .500 or better, are selected to a bowl game and routinely knock off Power Five teams. And EMU is doing that this year. The Eagles results would certainly make Minutemen fans scalp tingle.
If we had an offense, this year would be a great year to play Boston College...
Today's game is another chance for improvement. The defense has played well and everybody will benefit for more reps.
On offense, we need more production from the QB position. With most opponents playing eight or nine in the box, that means there are a lot of defenders available to stop the short passing game, which is all we have. No turnovers would certainly help. Some long time-eating drives would keep the ball away from EMU. The QB's need to make some positive plays.
I'll be watching and cheering for the Minutemen. Go UMass!
