A competitive defense is something we have not had since the move to FBS. In particular we have not had a run stopping MLB.
Recently I have been watching UMass full-game replays over at nfl-video.com. They have the full Minutemen games against Pitt, Florida State, Coastal Carolina and BC (with no commercials).
In the first two plays by Florida State, the Seminoles ripped off about 60 yards rushing. In both plays, UMass had a defender in hole. The Florida State player just ran through the tackle.
Hope Roberts has a great four-year career with the Minutemen and we remember 2022 and 2023 as when the great turnaround in defense happened.
