Johnny Evans---- LB

In Tuesday's blog post about Coach Brown's spring practice video, he mention LB Johnny Evans as being in the mix for the 2008 linebacker corps. There is not much info in his UMass Bio. I did not seem to do a blog post on him during recruiting.

Evans will be a redshirt sophomore this year. He's 6-0 220.

More Stuff on Goodwin

Blogger is going through one of its periodic 'crazy" modes. it's not allowing me to edit the previous post about Goodwin and Binkoski. Changing fonts is also gone.

Goodwin was a Rivals three star player. From the BC 2006 signings page: "Ranked as the 12th best player in New England by rivals.com...SuperPrep has him ranked as the 14th best prospect in New England...a three-way star for Natick...earned multiple player of the game awards...Captain...helped Natick to a 13-0 record and Division II Super Bowl Champs and Bay State League Champs...Bay State All-Star Junior and Senior Year...Team MVP for Football...Boston Globe and Herald All-Scholastic...earned Super 26 All-State Team...also a stand-out in track...coached by Tom Lamb"

Recruiting 2007---LB Blake Vanderwiel

Joining UMass' 2007 recruits is Blake Vanderwiel a 5-10 200 pd LB from Torrey Pines, CA.

His high school website has him playing for the Minutemen (scroll to end).

His MaxPreps page is here . The MaxPreps page has three video highlight films of him playing QB and LB. the last video is of him playing defense, which is the position he'll be playing for UMass. UMass recruit Julian Talley excels Philly All-Star Game

UMass Freshman Jullian Talley had 5 catches for 127 yards in a Philadelphia All-Star game. Story here .

Talley is wearing #86 in the image. He will be wearing #88 for UMass. Talley could well be one of the top recruits for 2007.

Recruiting 2007---Shane Viveiros Athlete

UMass has added another recruit to its 2007 list.

Coming to Amherst this fall is Shane Viveiros, a 6-1 200 pd Athlete has signed with the Minutemen . He's a three-sport player from Bishop Connelly in Fall River. Viveiros played QB in high school. The Minutemen are looking at him as QB/LB/DB.

Viveiros drew interest from numerous BSC/I-A teams including UConn, Syracuse, Oklahoma, Southern Miss and Wake Forest.
