UMass adds Big Ten team Indiana to its 2027 schedule. This is the second half of a long delayed home-and-home with the Hoosiers. Indiana won 45-6 at Gillette in 2012 (I was there).

 Jason Silverio, a 5-8 180 pound WR/DB from Methuen, MA  will walk on this fall for UMass.

UMass Football Recruiting 2023--Jermain McMillian commits to UMass

Jermaine McMillian, a 6-2 185 pound transfer Safety from UCF has committed to UMass.

McMillian should have two years of eligibility with the Minutemen. He had 14 total offers out of HS including multiple Power Five teams. McMillian is a pro-sized DB and should prosper in Coach Brown's attacking defense.

UMass Football Recruiting 2023--Aaron Bradley

 Donovan Dyson, a 6-2 220 pound DE/OLB has UMass in his top five.

Dyson has 12 total offers. Dyson likes to rush the passer and there is no better place to play than for "Dr. Blitz" Don Brown. Dyson could have a lot of fun in Brown's attacking defense.

During my recent trip I picked up the 2022 Athlon college football magazine to read in airports. They picked FBS newcomer James Madison to go 6-5 in the Sun Belt. Last year the Dukes went 12-1 in FCS and beat Maine 55-7.

Draft Kings picks the over/under for JMU as 6.5.

This year the Eagles open against Rutgers, Virginia Tech and Maine. Can Phil Jurkovec (who broke his hand against UMass) make enough difference to get get BC to 7-6?

 Alex Woods, a 6-5 275 pound OT from Treasure Coast HS in Port Lucie, FL received a UMass offer on June 8th.

Woods has eleven offers including Power Fives Iowa State and Pitt. Also has a number of Sun Belt offers. UMass is his only offer from the northeast. He'd be a good fit in Amherst and would be playing for a top O-line coach in Alex Miller.

UMass Football News--June 16th, 2022

 Five Minutemen make the Phil Steele preseason All-Independent team. Good choices all.

Josiah Johnson could be a big  weapon if we have a QB who can get him the ball. Both Coach Bell and Coach Brown said they liked their TE room. We've been without a dependable QB for three years. Better QB play is a must if the Minutemen offense is going to better this year.

Max Longman is a key player on the UMass OL. Watch the highlights of the UMass-Coastal Carolina game. Ignore the ball and just watch the line play. The Minutemen only scored three points and had 13 total first downs, two of them on penalties. With three possible new starters transferring in, Longman and the 2022 OL need to be a lot more competitive in order for us to gain some traction.

It would be interesting to see how the UMass defensive secondary would perform if they didn't have to do so much run support. Josh Wallace is probably the Minutemen's best defensive player. He could shine if he had a front seven ahead of him.

Sanders went 63-1028 yards and 8 TD's on offense last year. He had 75 TT 1 INT 1 SACK as a DB. 

He's being recruited by UMass assistant coach Ryan Partridge. Sanders has offers from UMass, Colorado State, Fresno State and Cal. He could get an East Coast education as well has a change to player early and often in Amherst.

NFL Draft News predicts a two-win season for the Minutemen in 2022.

For fellow Independent New Mexico State they predict a one-win season.

As will former Independent BYU. 

Temple will join the AAC in 2023 along with Charlotte, North Texas, Rice and UTSA.
