UPDATE II: UMass officially announces the series with Mississippi State.

UPDATE: Dan Malone has a post on the Bulldog game.

Matty Vautour reports the Minutemen will host Mississippi State on September 24th, 2016. Wow! The Bulldogs were rated #1 in the country for five straight weeks in 2014. At least we won't have to face Dak
Prescott who rang up 4,435 yards of offense in 2014 (he's a senior).

Sporting News has Mississippi State as 6th in the SEC West in 2015. Athlon has them 7th.

Fox Sports has a post about the game.

All this came about when Tulane canceled it's game against the Bulldogs.

Bulldog HC Dan Mullen looks to continue to build Mississippi State's success.

Mississippi State's 2015 schedule.

AAC commissioner Mike Aresco is still working to get the league into the Power Five group.

Three Notre Dame players have been named preseason All-Americans.

The comments in the Twittersphere are pretty hilarious about Miss St coming up here to play us. Ole Miss fans ragging them hard. Miss St fans upset with the games. Everyone taking potshots at UMass and our program. But I'm excited, because it's a big deal for UMass to have this series. Couldn't care less what anyone from Mississippi has to say about it. I know I'll be in the stands at Gillette for this one. Great exposure for UMass Football.

2016 is going to be a difficult season for the program, but hopefully it will be worth it in the long run.

Great opportunity and exposure for the program. In the late nineties, Maine traveled to Starkville and summarily beat the Bulldogs. Of course that was sixteen years ago, but I am very confident that next year at this time far fewer folks will be doubting the ability of the team. Great job with the scheduling! Love it!

2016 is going to be one CRAZY season! Can't wait for this next one but 2016 is going to be special. Who would have thought five years ago Florida, UConn, BC,Mississippi State, BYU, App.St. and Hawaii ALL IN THE SAME SEASON! WOW! We'll get beat up pretty bad most likely but we'll some our grit and determination. We're leaving the MAC for bigger and better teams...UMass football is here to stay and growing everyday.
