UMass Media Day 2012

First off, thanks to the UMass Media Relations Office for allowing me to attend! A lot of organizations would not be as accommodating------just because.

Congrats to John Sinnett on his baby daughter!

UMass was in it's new maroon home uniforms. John Sinnett said that the other two versions (the all-black and road whites) have not yet been delivered.

If you have never had a chance to talk with the UMass players, they are articulate kids. The players patently responded to press questions.

Post concussion syndrome is nothing to fool with and all UMass fans wish Kellen a swift and complete recovery.

I watched Coach Molnar's interview during the Patriot's halftime. One thing I like about Coach Molnar is his straightforward style. He makes declarative statements. That's a big change from Coach Morris who's obtuse interviews  I found irritating. He had a politician's knack of answering a question while saying nothing.

Recruiting 2013--- Tampa Bay recruiting update

The Tampa Bay Times has a long article on the status of college recruiting in the Tampa Bay area.

The article mentions the MAC and UMass a number of times.

Nearly every college football publication ranks Florida as the #1 source of football talent in the USA. This Beacher Report article is just one of them.

The MAC blog "Hustle Belt" looks at the league's offensive lines for 2012. The feeling here is that the Minutemen O-line is one of the most FBS-ready units on the team. If they have somebody to block for, they will be good.

With a number of FBS teams banned from bowls, there won't be enough teams to fill the slots. That means South Alabama is in the running for a bowl slot. If UMass were eligible this year, so would the Minutemen.
