I would have liked to see at least one more RB--and preferably an every-down, down-hill runner. We're limited at this position after next year. Frank, any idea about transfers at this point in time? Do we have any scholarships remaining?

Excellent work.

I have the impression that UMass coaches spent considerable time in pursuit of players who failed to qualify academically. Why wasn't this problem identified early in the process,so that time and money wasn't wasted. Some of these players were chased right up until signing day.Ironically a straight A student from Canada was offered only walk on status. Not a very thorough screening of potential candidates.

Ah, Whipple talked about some transfers prior to the signing show. We did not sign a TE, so that's a need that needs to be addressed.

I believe UMass gives about 83 total scholarships. We probably have about three to give in this cycle.

The southern Power Five schools start their Spring football early. After that is when fifth-year seniors or players who figure out they will not be playing much start to think about transferring.

This was a relatively weak signing class for UMass. According to 247Sports recruiting rankings, we just squeaked out of the bottom 10% of rankings. We signed six three-star recruits. UConn with the bottom ranked AAC class signed 11. BC with the bottom-ranked ACC class signed 19. Temple signed 25. Yale signed 7.

We could use a big finish with those final three or so scholarships...

Ranking system means nothing. If you’re a higher % 2* player who signs with a P5 team you automatically get bumped to 3* doesn’t happen if you sign to UMass.

How dare you say something negative! Whipple win or else, no more time. Just ask FIU, Coastal Carolina. Excuses are like rectrums, everyone has one and they all stink! I will go with Whipple- I don’t believe in recruiting rankings, I will believe in results. Hawaii says hi:)

The team rankings is even worse since it puts heavy emphasis on the number of players signed, not the average player rating.

We’ve lost our edge of promising early playing time with so many guys returning, IN even the best programs, only 4 and 5 star guys replace returning starters. This class added depth where we needed it. In terms of RB, don’t forget we have transfer sophomore from Syracuse to Bilal and Marquis. Or challenge them for reps. Next year is the time to restock the stable We have Orekoye still too.

Memo to umass hoops fans, you will never see Chris Baldwin in a Umass uniform, this year...and ever other subsequent year. Good bye.

UMass74.. The FBS limit for scholarships is 85 and I believe UMass is able to use all of them.
