UMass Football News February 7th 2018--National Signing Day

UPDATE: A.D. Ryan Bamford related UMass has signed a ten-game series with Army and a eight game series with Liberty. Good news, that. Both teams are in our wheelhouse. Army is close and a historic program. Minuteman fans should have a good showing both home and away for the Black Knights.

FBS schedules also reports a home and home with Akron in 2019 and 2020. More future games will be announced after the contracts are signed.

More info on today's signings maybe later today or tomorrow.Until then, 247Sports has a list of the current signees.

The UMass National Signing Day show will be available on-line here. It will also be available on some cable TV outlets. It's not on any Comcast channel I can find.

The UMass Football Twitter feed will report as the faxes come in.

Mike Traini of "Fight Massachusetts" has a post on what to expect.

Boston College signs a trio of Lawrence Academy All-Scholastics.

Middle Tennessee State hopes to sign UMass target Josheph Norwood.

Frank, what are your thoughts on Adam Breneman not getting an invite to the NFL Combine? I actually hope he doesn’t get drafted so he and his agent can pick the best fit for his skill set. It’s crazy that the selection committee picked 16 TE’s and he’s not one of them!

Ah, sometimes organizations do just crazy-bad decisions. I have no explanation for not inviting Breneman.

We'll see how it all turns out.

Watching Uconn home basketball game. Observations, their program is on the same projectory as UMass was under Bruiser Flint and Lappass, going nowhere fast. Empty Gamble Pavilion, bunch of misfits, playing hero ball, poor coaching. One difference was noticing ads on rotating boards, have actual sponsors. Key Bank, Subway, Advil, Travelers, Mohegan Sun. While a UMass has UMass dining, umass store, UMass club, Umass credit union, UMass court club. Can’t the school get actual sponsors? Bank of America, MGM, T-Mobile, etc.why is Umass doing worse than they did in the 70’s and 80’s for civic engagement? Wasting time tweeting their friends and few followers instead of actually getting out and meeting with alumni, and networking with businesses who make money off of UMass.

combine is 56% accurate in picking draftees.
