The UMass website has an article about Anthony Nelson being named CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
UMass also had fourteen of the fifty-eight players on the CAA Academic All-Conference Team.
On offense: Emil Egwenagu, John Ihne, Mike Kahale, James Lizotte, Greg Niland, Ray Pendergast, Dan Sheeran, Ian Shultis, Caleb Violette and Ryan Young.
On Defense: Ryan Collins, Bill Nesselt, David Ramsden and Jeff Strait.
Last year four Minutemen were named to the Academic All-conference team.

The Sports Network has a list of recruits for all the CAA teams here.
UPDATE: The CAA football blog has a post that has links to the signing pages of all the CAA teams.

Tyrell Okoro, a 6-5 290 pd OL chose Morgan State over UMass and Maine.

The Feds have cracked down on free web video streaming sites including channellsurfing.net. That would impact the opportunity of out-of-town UMass fans to see the Minutemen.
Thanks to a Blog reader who brought this to my attention.

Channelsurf.eu is up and is the same website. Worked for the Umass vs. SLU hoops game the other day
Don't know if you've seen - Liam Coen is the new QB coach at URI: http://scindependent.com/articles/2011/02/04/sports/doc4d4b28370ba27799712956.txt.
they're cracking down because of the super bowl weekend and have changed it to channelsurf.eu
Congrats to Anthony Nelson and the rest of the scholar athletes; glad to see some are getting a strong education as well as time on the playing field. Where are the comments on our recruits? Everyone has been critical of Coach or wondering about possible upgrade. Now we have recruits to talk about and everyone is silent. What gives?
The trolls have nothing to talk about when good things happen to the program...
Liam Coen hired as QB coach at Rhode Island
We lost Gary Wooten (Fla LB) to Eastern Michigan a 3 star guy.
well said Frank
thanks for the channelsurf.eu
domain change info.
I use it to get my NHL games too
Congratulations to Anthony Nelson, a most deserving winner on and off the field. And kudos to all UMass players who were selected. Having more CAA academic all-stars than any other CAA school is a tribute to the players and coaching staff. Thank you for representing our school so well!
Frank, in looking at the list, there are 15 UMass players on it out of 89 across the CAA. Not sure where the 14 of 58 number comes from.
58 of the players of were on offense. The original press release had that number for the entire total. I forgot to update the post when they changed it.
Congrtaualtions to Anthony, Ian and all of the other 2010 CAA Acadmic all-stars. Nice work gentlemen.
